With the aid of the reproductions of the Centre de Sculpture Romane “Maître de Cabestany”, the scope of this intervention is to unveil the expressions of the marvelous in the sculptures created by the so-called Cabestany Master. By all means, the excellence and the rare talent of this sculptor has been already outlighted by almost all the experts that have been commited to their study. Some studies have been particularly focused on the particularity of the narrative compositions, the technique of the carvings or the uniqueness of the style, mainly that of the human figures. Actually, all these aspects lead to the definition of an undeniable sculptural identity amidst the mid-XIIth century sculptural workshops.
Without being the central theme of any of the creations, the representation of some of the miracles of Jesus is stressed in certain works of the Cabestany Master. The identification of these miracles provides a better understanding of how the intellectual creator of the referred sculptures (if different from the master or the chief material author) could have been particularly devoted to the exaltation of the human nature of Jesus and of his surnatural acts.
